E. Joyce Peterson
E. Joyce Peterson, a resident of Pompano Beach, Forida, went to be with Jesus on July 17th, 2017 with her family by her side. She died of congestive heart failure at the age of 90.
She was born in Michigan to Raymond & Ruby Smith. She grew up in Indiana. She was married to Robert Thomas of Indiana and had 4 children. As an air force family they traveled a lot, including living in Japan for 4 years. Later she married Herbert Peterson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and they had one daughter.
During her life, she worked for the phone company, she had her own retail store, she was a live-in cook for a teen center, and she worked in the preschool of 1st Baptist Church of Pompano.
Most of all, she loved her family. She was a strong Christian role model, prayer warrior and encourager to her family and friends. She was a faithful member of 1st Baptist Church of Pompano, and although she lost her eyesight in her later years, she made it her ministry to send card of well wishes to her Trailblazer friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, MaryAnn Starkey and son, Michael Thomas. She is survived by her sister Barbara Thomas, 3 children and their spouses, Jeffrey & Wanda Thomas, Steve & Wendy Thomas, and Kimberly & Richard Sorren, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with another on the way.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23rd 2017 at 2:00pm at 1st Baptist Church of Pompano, 138 NW 1st Street, Pompano Beach. All are welcome to attend her memorial celebration.
