Antonietta Gandolfo Corsello
Antonietta Gandolfo Corsello passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017. She was 94 years young. She was a long-time resident of Florida, having lived in North Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Ramrod Key. She originally chose and purchased land in Ramrod Key in 1959 for vacations and holiday gatherings with her husband and family. She moved from Fort Lauderdale to live permanently in Ramrod Key in 2015.
At the age of 24, she came to the United States from Italy after World War II to finish her studies in English so that she could return to Italy to teach it. While in her studies for English at New York University, she met and married her husband, Reverend Joseph D. Corsello, a Presbyterian pastor who predeceased her in 1991. They were married in March of 1948, and had two daughters, Dr. Lily Corsello, also of Ramrod Key, and Maranatha Corsello-Eames, who predeceased her mother in 1986.
Antonietta Corsello was a schoolteacher, pastor’s wife, mother, and grandmother to her one granddaughter, Valerie. She was known for her strong love for God, family, and others. She loved to cook great Italian dishes, make her own patterns to sew clothing which actually looked store-bought, and was always proud of her Italian heritage. She was a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Lodge 2436, in Key West.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, at Vineyard Community Church in Big Pine Key, FL, at 12 noon. A Graveside Service and Committal will be held Monday, April 10, at Forest Lawn Central in Fort Lauderdale, FL, at 11 A.M.
